چکیده

INTRODUCTION Despite the frequency of hand-held load carriage in many industrial settings, most research to date has focused primarily on packs as the means of load carriage. The Mover’s Assistive Device (MAD), developed in 2008 at Queen’s University in conjunction with local moving companies, is an on-body ergonomic aid designed to reduce musculoskeletal effort during hand-held load carriage. The MAD has been found to reduce muscular activity, as well as reduce users’ perceived exertion during loaded walking [1]. Interjoint coordination (quantified as the continuous relative phase (CRP) angle) variability has been used as an indicator of a person’s ability to respond to and recover from perturbations in unfavourable conditions during normal gait [2]. The purpose of this study was to quantify differences in CRP variability during load carriage when: 1) carrying a load anteriorly and posteriorly; and 2) wearing and not wearing the MAD.

A dynamical systems analysis of assisted and unassisted anterior and posterior hand-held load carriage.

UNLABELLED Load carriage is recognised as a primary occupational factor leading to slip and fall injuries, and therefore assessing balance maintenance during such tasks is critical in assessing injury risk. Ten males completed 55 strides under five carriage conditions: (1) unassisted anterior, (2) unassisted posterior, (3) assisted anterior, (4) assisted posterior and (5) unloaded gait (UG). Ki...

The effect of an on-body assistive device on transverse plane trunk coordination during a load carriage task.

Load carriage is a physically demanding task that is often required of employees in many different occupations. The Mover's Assistive Device (MAD) is an on-body ergonomic assistive device designed to help professional movers transfer boxes during two techniques of hand-held load carriage: anterior carriage and posterior carriage. The purpose of this study was to examine the intersegment coordin...

The Effects of Short Time Static and Dynamic Stretching on Kinematics Variability of Lower Extremity in Males during Cycling

The purpose of present study was to examine the effects of short time static and dynamic stretching of muscles on kinematics variability of lower extremity in healthy active males during cycling. 15 physical education and sport sciences male students from Kharazmi University voluntarily participated in this study. Subjects referred to the laboratory during two days, with 48 hours intervals betw...

Coordination variability during load carriage walking: can it contribute to low back pain?

Load carriage walking is frequently associated with low back pain. Mechanical stress is a potential cause of such pain, and a lack of coordination variability may produce mechanical stress. We tested the hypothesis that coordination variability would decrease during load carriage walking. We examined the trunk-thigh coordination variability in the sagittal and frontal planes and the thorax-pelv...

Trunk and pelvic coordination at various walking speeds during an anterior load carriage task in subjects with and without chronic low back pain

[Purpose] This study compared the coordination patterns of the trunk and pelvis in the transverse plane between healthy subjects and patients with chronic low back pain during an anterior load carriage task at various walking speeds. [Subjects] Ten healthy subjects and 10 patients with chronic low back pain performed an anterior carriage task with a load of 10% body weight at walking speeds of ...
